Ben Richey Boys Ranch and Family Program Admissions
Boys Ranch Admission
Ben Richey Boys Ranch admissions are considered on an individual basis. Below you will find some of the considerations for entering a boy into the Ben Richey program.
Boys, ranging in age from 6 to 14, can be considered for placement in the Boys Ranch Program. Boys will be considered without regard to race, religion or socioeconomic status. Upon referral by a school counselor, psychologist, pastor, parent or legal guardian, Ranch administration will require the parent or placing agent to submit a completed application for the child. If the boy appears to be a good candidate for our program, an interview and pre-placement visit will be arranged. The pre-placement visit is a weekend visit to determine if the the Ranch can meet the needs of the child.
If it is determined that the boy is a good candidate for placement with Ben Richey Boys Ranch the second part of the application process will take place. This includes providing current dental and physical exams, immunization records, social security and birth records and other required documents.

Ben Richey Boys Ranch is licensed by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services as a 24-hour general residential operation, authorized to admit boys from 6 to 14 years of age. Ben Richey Boys Ranch and Family Program is a member of the Texas Coalition of Homes for Children and the Association of Christian Childcare Administrators.
Family Program Admission
Ben Richey Family Program admissions are considered on an individual basis. Below you will find some considerations for entering the Family Program.
Only single mothers are eligible for placement in the Family Program. Mothers and their children will be considered without regard to race or religion. The single mother in need must be willing to set and achieve attainable goals that will allow her to live independently while raising her child or children.
The admission process for the Family Program includes first filling out our Application for Admission. Once that is completed, we will review it and, if we have an opening at the time, we will schedule an interview for the applicant. This will give us a chance to clarify questions we might have regarding the mother’s situation, as well as assess her level of motivation to work within the Program. This interview will also give the mother a chance to ask us questions about the Program and see the Family Program home. Once the interview is complete and it appears that she is a candidate for the Program, we will complete a thorough background check. If that check returns to us without any significant issues, we will then schedule a time for the family to move into the Family Program home.
