The boys of Ben Richey Boys Ranch are encouraged to participate in their community through church, school, extracurricular activities, 4-H, FFA, and other activities. The boys attend social, church and athletic events as a group. Boys on the Abilene campus attend Jackson Elementary, Madison Middle School, and Cooper High School. The boys on the Albany campus attend Albany High School. This past school grading period the boys of Ben Richey Boys Ranch passed 95% of the classes they were enrolled in. Education is a priority at the Ranch, because it improves the boy's chances of becoming responsible young men and some day great parents.
Through the generosity of friends, tickets are donated so the boys can take part in a variety of activities, including the circus, the rodeo, and cultural events. The Ranch's game room is equipped with pool tables, ping pong tables and various other table games. Many of the boys also participate in city league football and baseball programs.
The Ranch also offers a variety of vocational training areas primarily through an extensive 4-H program. Boys, depending on their age, interest, and aptitude, care for the many animals which are exhibited and/or consumed for food. Gardens of fresh vegetables are planted each year and cared for by the boys.
