Ben Richey Boys Ranch is a private, non-profit basic child care facility. Ben Richey Boys Ranch provides clean, comfortable and safe homes for each boy at the Ranch. Through experienced guidance of house parents and staff, each boy will develop confidence while learning to take responsibility for his actions. Our goal is to provide each boy with the tools to become a productive, successful member of society once they have completed the program.
The Abilene campus is located on an 80-acre Ranch with three homes, one relief cottage, gym, pool, livestock pens, administrative center and more.
Ben Richey Boys Ranch also has a campus located near Albany, Texas. It is situated on 80 acres and consists of a two homes, a relief home, livestock pens and an agriculture barn/shop facility.
Boys Ranch Education and Activities
The boys of Ben Richey Boys Ranch participate in their community through church, school, 4-H, FFA, and other activities. The boys attend social, church and athletic events as a group. Boys on the Abilene campus attend Jackson Elementary, Madison Middle School, and Cooper High School. The boys on the Albany campus attend Albany schools. This past school grading period the boys of Ben Richey Boys Ranch passed 95% of the classes they were enrolled in. Education is a priority at the Ranch, because it improves the boy’s chances of becoming responsible young men and some day great parents.
Through the generosity of friends, tickets are donated so the boys can take part in a variety of activities, including the circus, the rodeo, and cultural events. The Ranch’s game room is equipped with pool tables, ping pong tables and various other table games. Many of the boys also participate in city league football and baseball programs.
The Ranch also offers a variety of vocational training areas through the 4-H or FFA programs. Boys raise livestock and vegetable gardens are planted each year and cared for by the boys. The boys are also active participants in the newly formed horse program at Ben Richey Boys Ranch.
